In 2013 I was unhappy with the way I looked and felt which led me to give up drinking alcohol. I gave up drinking and replaced it with lifting weights. I have now been sober for 8 years and I feel better mentally and physically than ever before. I turned 51 last year and looking back, I would never have thought I would feel this good at my age!
One way I hold myself accountable is by setting small goals. One of my goals is to bench press my age x10 on my birthday every year. I started at age 43 and have hit my goal each year except 2021 because of an injury. I may not have hit my goal of 510 pounds, but I still pushed and ended up benching 425. I never gave up and I will try again next year.
Drop the Bottle Raise the Bar is about eliminating the negative aspects in your life and focusing on what is healthy and positive so that you may grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. The bottle represents the negative things that are holding you back from finding the real you! Raising the bar is showing who you are, gaining confidence, and ultimately having the ability to share with others without shame. Embracing your purpose!

I have known Coach Fred since my high school days. His initiative to help others take control of their lives is something that is crucial to his success. As someone who didn’t believe in themselves before meeting Coach Fred, Drop the Bottle, Raise the Bar can help you believe in yourself.
I know that how I start my week is generally how I finish it. For over two years I have depended on the Monday motivation from DTBRTB to jumpstart me. On my lowest days I go to the quotes to reflect and to bring me out. Grateful for the consistency of showing up every Monday.
I was contemplating how to begin “yet again” the journey of getting in better shape/ losing weight!! So I decided I wouldn’t wait until the beginning of the next month or another week, Oct 23rd would be the day! So I’m only 3 days strong but I started! And what got me even more excited and motivated I received my #dropthebottleraisethebar
